MAISA Women’s Conference Champs (10/28-29)
Princeton Sailing’s Women’s Team took to Kings Point to sail in the Women’s Fleet Race Conference Championships. Sailors Bracklinn Williams ‘25 and Tacy Guest ‘26 in the A fleet, Carly Mraz ‘25 and Kate Feiner ‘26 in the B fleet, and Evelyn Walsh ‘26 and Katie Greppin ‘26 as reserves.
Saturday morning would be a slow start as sailors waited through a short on-shore postponement as they waited for a 5-8 knot Westerly to fill in that would have racing started just before noon. Princeton Sailors would struggle to get off the line in the first two sets as they would battle their way through a shifty breeze to finish off the day in 13th overall. The highlight of the day would come from B division sailors Mraz and Feiner finishing race 5 in 2nd place!
What was forecasted to be a second day of light wind sailing turned out to be a cold, wet, and windy day of competition for the final 8 races of the fall conference championships. 15-18 knots with gusts of 23 out of the north-east would spring reserve sailors Walsh and Greppin into action as the Tigers battled through a long day of late fall season sailing. The Tigers demonstrated moments of greatness as they would round mark 1 consistently in the top half of the fleet. Although our sailors felt they could have left more out on the water to finish in a better place, Coach Fraser is excited about the level of promise this group showed to keep raising the bar in the current and future generations of Princeton Sailors.
Thank you to Coach Feeney and everyone at Kings Point Waterfront for a fantastic weekend of championship sailing. We look forward to seeing everyone back out on the water this coming spring!
