Princeton Fall Open Regatta Report (9/24)
Princeton Sailing hosted its premiere event at its new home venue Anchor Yacht Club this past weekend, welcoming competitors, spectators, and members of AYC to enjoy a fantastic day of college sailing. Seven teams from the MAISA conference came to compete on a beautiful Saturday afternoon with a steady 6-11 knot south westerly breeze that allowed for racing to take place right in front of the AYC docks. This weekend marked a special event for Princeton Sailing as it would be the first competitive use of its new fleet of E420s accompanied by new North Sails main and jib sails. Competitors were just as excited as they were cautious to be sailing with brand new equipment as they completed all seven races throughout the course of the day. A large turnout of Princeton Sailors allowed Coach Fraser to enter three teams into the event led by Asher Green ‘24, William Roberts ‘26, Ossian Kamal ‘26, Hali Liu ‘25, and Ellen Toberman ‘25 who clinched the win by posting 27 points in 7 races. A total of 15 Princeton Sailors made it out to sail in their home opener event gaining lots of valuable experience and exposure to the college sailing regatta scene. After a long day of racing, competitors were met by members of AYC and hosted a Bar-B-Q for all competitors, coaches, and spectators to cap off another successful weekend for Princeton Sailing. A huge thank you to everyone at AYC for helping make this weekend possible and being incredible hosts. Another thank you to everyone involved in the purchase of Princeton Sailings’ new fleet of E420s and new sails! And lastly to Senior Alumni Board Member Tom Darling ‘75 for the onsite assistance to help run the regatta.
