The Grant Regatta Report (4/16-4/17)
Princeton Sailors Connor Mraz ‘23, Aliya Ismagilova ‘22, Asher Green ‘24, and Anna Eaton ‘24 traveled to Washington College in Chestertown, MD to compete in the Grant Trophy. High winds on Saturday made for gritty sailing conditions on the Chester River which Princeton Sailors managed to grind through securing a 4th place spot overall after day 1. After completing their own regatta in Kings Point, NY, Sailors Robert Rubin ‘23 and Chai Mauliola ‘24 drove down to Chestertown, MD to support the team. Sunday brought on an inconsistent north-west breeze of 5 knots with periodic shifts, and gusts of up to 15 knots. Mraz ‘23 and Ismagilova ‘22 came hot out of the gate with a 1st place finish in race number 8. This would set the theme for the day with Princeton Sailing steadily climbing the leader board until they were down two points with one race left in the regatta. Green ‘24 and Eaton ‘24 sailed a nail-biting finishing set which concluded in Princeton Sailing claiming their first overall victory of the 2022 season! An action-packed weekend with many firsts for Princeton Sailing but the sights are quickly set on next weekend when the team will continue its late-season charge at Boston University for the George E. Morris Trophy. Go Tigers!
